Kavya

My name is Kavya Lamichhane, and I am a freshman at Enloe High School. I am very interested in the Health Sciences field. I like sports and dance, and I am currently a part of the school’s varsity swim and cross-country teams. I am also a classical Kathak dancer and have been dancing over the past 6 years. I have performed at Hum Sub’s Cary Diwali and other cultural events in the past. My parents have been volunteering with various social and cultural non-profit organizations in the area since we moved to NC back in 2010. Since my elementary school years, I always tagged along with my parents to volunteering activities and observed and helped them in the ways I can. Over the years, this has shaped my interest towards selfless contribution to the society. Volunteering provides me opportunities to learn and appreciate people’s unique cultures and backgrounds, give back to the community, and in turn helps me develop confidence to deal with new challenges and develop leadership skills. I am currently volunteering with organizations such as Hum Sub, Pookar, DOCNC, NCNC, Om squad, various other projects via Enloe’s MBSA team. I have volunteered at the information, registration and cultural booths; fundraising booths; water and food stations at 5K run/Triathlon fundraising events; item packing for homeless; as well as park clean ups and other sustainability initiatives. I have also Emceed at the Hum Sub’s Cary Diwali and Pookar events, which has helped me develop confidence for public speaking. I am really hoping to help out more in any way I can through Hum Sub’s Youth Ambassador program, and look forward to learn new things!!!
